Forest canopy and starry sky

Omø originally consistedwas originally two smaller islands separated by a small strait. Over time, the islands merged, and today Omø Lake is the last remnant of the strait.

Both the lake, the bog and the rest of Omø are packed with the most beautiful nature. Bird lovers will enjoy the view of both the bittern and the lapwing, which is almost a signature bird in these parts, and you can also see robint grebes, little grebe, whitethroat, yellowhammer and many other birds.

When you visit Omø, you can hardly avoid seeing fallow deer. The herds are regulated annually, but are still fixed at around 80 deer.

Anglers also have a great time on Omø, where the sea trout attract many. However, you can also catch cod, flatfish and garfish when in season.

You can't visit Omø without climbing Skovbanken, the highest point on the island at 24 meters above sea level. From the top you have a full overview of the island, but on clear days you can also see the Great Belt Bridge and no less than 11 islands in the sea around Omø.

Along the forest cliffnthethat stretches 24 meters into the air, you can you can really feel and see the different layers of soil and shifts that were created when the glaciers migrated during the Ice Age.
The cliffs are also home to a large colony of swifts that make 75 cm deep nest holes in the cliff.

The Omø tour should also go past Øret, the southern tip of the island. Here, the coastline is made up of huge stone ramparts, which is in stark contrast to Draget, one of the island's lovely beaches.

As darkness descends and night falls, the starry sky opens up on Omø - here you can experience the nights stars in their entiretyt without light pollution from street lamps or the like.
