Orø Minder is the island museum and local archive, located in Orø's former poorhouse. The museum contains objects and written material about the island's history, so you can explore items from the 19th and 20th centuries, as well as items from the Stone Age, Bronze Age, Iron Age and up to the present day.
Orø Minder has both a permanent exhibition and various special exhibitions.
You can also experience history when you visit Hestebedgård, an old family farm with history dating back to 1713.
In 2008, the farm was handed over to Hestebedgårds Friendship association, which today runs it as a museum with memorial rooms for the farm's former owner Kjeld Larsen and his parents Henrik and Olivia Larsen who were part of the family, who owned the farm for seven generations.
Orø Agricultural Museum is small, intimate and privately owned - but it contains objects dating back to the 20s.
A visit to the museum is also a meeting with the 85-year-old owner Knud Erik, who is ready to give you a personal tour. As Orø Agricultural Museum is privately owned, it is a good idea to call on tel. +45 59 46 06 55 in advance and arrange your visit.
